1. Sports Interaction Best Canadian-built sportsbook
Sports Interaction has taken Canadian sports bets since 1997, making it the only sportsbook on this list that started in Canada. It’s now owned by Entain, has operational teams in Calgary, and runs in Alberta as an agent of the Alberta iGaming Corporation under AGLC licence 120429. It moved onto that licence on July 23, 2026, ten days after the market opened.
The A to Z menu covers 33 sports, and the app leads with the leagues Canadians bet on most: the NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB, CFL and UFC. Same-game parlays come three ways: build your own, add legs from other games with SGP+, or pick one of the pre-built SGPs set up for big games. Cash out and live betting are both available. Banking runs on nine methods, including Interac e-Transfer, Visa, Mastercard and Apple Pay, from a $10 minimum deposit. Interac withdrawals go through an internal review of up to two business days, then take one to three business days to reach your bank, with no fee either way.
Pros
- Canadian-built sportsbook, taking bets since 1997
- Three ways to build a same-game parlay, including pre-built SGPs
- Nine payment methods from a $10 minimum deposit
Cons
- No PayPal
- Interac withdrawals can take up to five business days in total
2. DAZN Bet Best for streaming and betting on one login
DAZN Bet comes from the DAZN sports streaming group. Live streams play in a column beside the bet slip, and you can watch before you log in or deposit, so you can see how a match is going before you decide whether to bet on it. When we checked in September, the streams covered basketball, soccer, tennis, table tennis and esports.
It’s operated by DZBT Marketing Limited under AGLC registration 120545, and the sportsbook lists 33 sports, the same count as Sports Interaction. Cash out is available in full or in part, so you can take some money off a bet and leave the rest running. Hockey is well covered, with 236 events across 16 country groups on our September count, plus deep futures on conference and division winners and individual awards. Verification has a firm deadline: you’ll need to confirm your age and address within 72 hours of your first deposit attempt, and withdrawals are paused until that’s done.
Pros
- Live streams play beside the bet slip, even before you log in
- Full and partial cash out
- Deep hockey futures, including division winners and player awards
Cons
- No hockey streams when we checked in September
- Hockey period betting covers only the highest-scoring period
3. FanDuel Best for same-game parlays
FanDuel is legal and available in Alberta: FanDuel Canada ULC is registered with AGLC under licence 120396, and the sportsbook has taken bets in the province since July 13, 2026. It’s owned by Flutter and has run in Ontario since 2022, but the two provinces use separate accounts.
Same-game parlays are the centre of the app. Open any game, tap the Same Game Parlay tab and combine two or more bets, such as a moneyline, a total and a player prop. SGP+ goes a step further and adds legs from other games to the same slip. Player props and live betting cover the NHL, the PWHL, the NBA and the CFL, and FanDuel’s CFL partnership now includes Alberta. Cash out is full only, with no partial option documented. FanDuel’s Canadian help centre puts PayPal withdrawals at up to 48 hours after approval, while Interac and debit card withdrawals can take up to five business days.
Pros
- Same Game Parlay tab, plus SGP+ for parlays across several games
- App Store rating of 4.78 from more than 46,000 ratings
- PayPal withdrawals within 48 hours of approval
Cons
- Interac and debit card withdrawals can take up to five business days
- Cash out is full only
4. DraftKings Best for player props
DraftKings is legal in Alberta, and you can use it anywhere in the province. Crown DK CAN Ltd. is registered with AGLC, and DraftKings Sportsbook went live on July 13, 2026. You need to be 18 or older and physically in Alberta when you bet, but you don’t need to be a resident. Alberta is its second Canadian province after Ontario and its 34th jurisdiction in North America.
Player props are its strongest market. The app lists props for every sport it covers, so you can bet on a player’s points, shots on goal or passing yards rather than the final score, and combine them in same-game parlays. SGPx then adds picks from other games to a single slip, and live in-play betting runs alongside. DraftKings pays card withdrawals in under 24 hours, PayPal in one to two days and Interac in one to three days, according to its Canadian help centre, although the Alberta terms allow up to five business days. To withdraw by Interac, you need to have made an Interac deposit of at least $5 first.
Pros
- Player props across every sport it covers
- SGPx combines same-game parlays with picks from other games
- Card withdrawals in under 24 hours
Cons
- Interac withdrawals need an earlier Interac deposit of $5 or more
- Alberta terms allow up to five business days for a withdrawal
5. BetMGM Best for editing and cashing out bets
Alberta was BetMGM’s first expansion since it entered Ontario in 2022. The sportsbook is run by BetMGM Canada Inc., a joint venture between MGM Resorts and Entain, which is registered with AGLC and authorized by AiGC.
BetMGM gives you three ways to manage a bet after you place it. Edit My Bet lets you change your selections before or during a game; behind the scenes, it cashes out the original bet and places a new one. Auto Cash Out settles a bet once its cash-out value reaches a figure you set, and Notify Cash Out alerts you instead. Same-game parlays and SGP+ are available, though Edit My Bet doesn’t work on them. The house rules also cover curling, lacrosse and bull riding, along with round robins of three to eight picks and teasers. Every withdrawal passes an internal review of up to three to five days, after which Interac and PayPal pay out within 24 hours.
Pros
- Edit My Bet, before or during a game
- Auto Cash Out at a value you set
- Interac and PayPal withdrawals within 24 hours of approval
Cons
- Internal review of up to three to five days before any withdrawal
- Edit My Bet doesn’t work on same-game parlays
6. bet365 Best for live betting
bet365 is the official sports betting partner of the CFL in Alberta and Ontario. Hillside (International Sports) ENC runs the Alberta sportsbook under AGLC registration 120506, acting as an agent of the Alberta iGaming Corporation.
Live betting is where bet365 stands apart. Build same-game parlays of up to 12 selections while a game is underway, cash out straight bets and parlays before and during play, and use the Match Live tracker to see action beside in-play markets, switching to a stream where one is available. Payouts are quick: Interac and debit card withdrawals take one to four hours, from a $10 minimum. There’s no PayPal, though, and an account left inactive for a year starts paying a monthly fee of $4 or 5% of the balance, whichever is greater, once you’ve been given notice.
Pros
- Same-game parlays of up to 12 selections, pre-game or live
- Interac and debit card withdrawals in one to four hours
- App Store rating of 4.70 from more than 180,000 ratings
Cons
- No PayPal
- Monthly fee on accounts left inactive for a year
7. BetRivers Best-rated sportsbook app
BetRivers is run by Rush Street Interactive, which has operated in Ontario since 2022 and launched BetRivers in Alberta when the market opened. Its app is rated 4.80 on the App Store from more than 4,200 ratings, the highest average of any sportsbook on this list, though from a smaller pool than bet365’s or FanDuel’s. The same app serves Alberta players at 18+ and Ontario players at 19+.
The app covers the core markets you’d expect: moneylines, point spreads, totals, parlays, player props, futures and live in-play betting, with the NHL at the top of the hockey board. BetRivers also streams live sport inside the app. In Alberta, that includes every pro football game of the season, along with soccer, tennis and golf. The brand is casino-first, though. Online casino makes up about 72% of its parent company’s revenue, and the sportsbook is a smaller part of what BetRivers offers.
Pros
- Highest App Store rating on this list, at 4.80
- Live streaming, including every pro football game of the season
- Full set of core markets, including futures and player props
Cons
- Casino-first brand, with the sportsbook second
- Smaller ratings base than bet365’s or FanDuel’s
8. Tonybet Best for esports betting
Tonybet started in Estonia in 2003 and was bought in 2009 by poker player Antanas Guoga, known as Tony G. In Alberta it’s run by Tonybet Northpoint Limited, licensed by AGLC, from a standalone site built for the province, and it’s taken bets there since opening day.
Its sports menu lists 31 sports, and seven of them are esports: Counter-Strike, Dota, League of Legends, Rainbow Six, Arena of Valor, King of Glory and eSoccer. That puts esports at almost a quarter of the menu. The mainstream board covers the NHL and CFL, with a bet builder for combining selections from one game, odds supplied by Sportradar, and cash out before an event, during live play or between legs of an eligible parlay. Banking is tightly capped. The minimum withdrawal is $10, but you can’t withdraw more than $4,000 a day, $15,000 a week, or $50,000 a month, and Tonybet aims to process withdrawals within 48 hours once its checks are done. Credit cards aren’t accepted.
Pros
- Seven esports titles on a 31-sport menu
- Cash out between legs of an eligible parlay
- $10 minimum withdrawal
Cons
- Withdrawals capped at $4,000 a day and $15,000 a week
- Payment methods only show in the cashier after you log in
9. Caesars Sportsbook Best for parlay variety
Caesars Sportsbook is run in Alberta by American Wagering, Inc., part of Caesars Entertainment, and launched on opening day alongside Caesars Palace Online Casino and Horseshoe Online Casino. Check your age before you sign up: Alberta’s legal minimum is 18, but Caesars accepts only players 21 and older.
Its house rules cover four kinds of parlay. A same-game parlay combines bets from one game. A Super Parlay stacks several same-game parlays, or adds one to a regular parlay or straight bet. A Flex Parlay lets you choose how many legs must win for a payout, so one miss doesn’t sink the whole slip, at a lower price. Teasers move the point spread in your favour across two to eight football or basketball legs. Cash out works before and during games, including on parlays, teasers and round robins, and the app streams select games. Interac e-Transfer deposits start at $5, and withdrawals can take up to 72 hours of internal processing.
Pros
- Four parlay types, including Flex Parlay and Super Parlay
- Cash out on parlays, teasers and round robins
- $5 minimum Interac deposit
Cons
- 21+ only, so 18- to 20-year-old Albertans can’t sign up
- Up to 72 hours of internal processing on withdrawals
10. Bally Bet Best for football betting
Bally Bet is run by Bally’s Canada Inc. under AGLC registration 120432 and started taking bets in Alberta on August 4, 2026, alongside its sister site, Monopoly Casino & Sportsbook. Like Caesars, it sets its own minimum age above the provincial one: you need to be 19 or older.
Football is where the board runs deepest, with NFL, college football and CFL markets all on offer. The parlay tools suit football in particular. BetBuilder combines bets from one game, Teaser+ adjusts the spread across several games, and Parlay Zone in the app helps you put a parlay together quickly. You can cash out single bets and parlays before or during a game. Bally Bet charges no fees on deposits or withdrawals, and aims to approve a withdrawal within 24 hours, extended up to five business days if it needs more information from you. Its app is rated 4.61 on the App Store and 4.26 on Google Play.
Pros
- NFL, college football and CFL markets, with BetBuilder and Teaser+
- No deposit or withdrawal fees
- App Store rating of 4.61 from more than 4,100 ratings
Cons
- 19+ only
- Newest sportsbook on this list, live since August 4, 2026
How we rate the best Alberta betting sites
We only reviewed sportsbooks listed in the AiGC directory, then scored each one on six areas. The same licensing check applies to the real-money casinos we cover.
Every sportsbook here is registered with AGLC and listed by AiGC. We checked each operator’s footer and terms for the company name and registration number, and confirmed the minimum age each one sets, since two go higher than Alberta’s 18.
We counted the sports on each A to Z menu and checked how deep the board goes on the leagues Albertans bet on most: the NHL, NFL, CFL, NBA and MLB.
Same-game parlays, player props, teasers and round robins all count, along with tools that change a bet after it’s placed, such as Edit My Bet.
We checked whether cash out is full, partial or automatic, whether it works during play, and whether a sportsbook streams games and which sports those streams cover.
We took withdrawal times from each operator’s own banking pages, including the internal review that comes before the money leaves the sportsbook, and noted fees, minimums and withdrawal caps.
We checked App Store ratings and the limit tools each sportsbook offers, including deposit, loss, session and single-bet limits, time-outs and the link to Alberta’s self-exclusion program.
Is sports betting legal in Alberta?
Yes. Sports betting in Alberta is legal for adults 18 and older at sportsbooks registered with AGLC and at Play Alberta, the province’s own site. AGLC is the regulator: it registers operators, runs their background checks and enforces the rules. The Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC), a Crown corporation, signs the commercial agreements that let each operator run in the province and handles anti-money laundering and revenue sharing. A sportsbook needs both before it can take a bet.
Alberta betting regulations are set out in AGLC’s Standards and Requirements for Internet Gaming. They require geolocation checks that block bets when your location can’t be confirmed, identity checks before an account opens, and limit tools on every site. They also restrict what you can bet on: events where most participants are under 18, Canadian minor leagues including the CHL, political events and financial markets are all off the board. The full Alberta sports betting laws are set out on our Alberta gambling laws and regulations page.
When sports betting became legal in Alberta
Single-game sports betting has been legal in Alberta since August 27, 2021, but private sportsbooks only arrived in July 2026. Before 2021, the Criminal Code allowed provinces to offer parlays only, so Albertans had to combine at least two outcomes on one ticket.
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| October 1, 2020 | AGLC launched PlayAlberta.ca with casino games and lottery, but no sportsbook. |
| June 29, 2021 | Bill C-218, the Safe and Regulated Sports Betting Act, received royal assent. |
| August 27, 2021 | The change came into force, allowing single-event sports betting across Canada. |
| September 1, 2021 | Play Alberta added sports betting, with single- and multi-event wagers. |
| May 15, 2025 | The iGaming Alberta Act (Bill 48) received royal assent, setting up a regulated private market and the Alberta iGaming Corporation. |
| January 2026 | AGLC began registering private operators under its new internet gaming standards. |
| July 13, 2026 | Alberta’s regulated market opened with 22 registered sites. |
| October 2, 2026 | The AiGC directory lists 35 registered sites, 15 of them sportsbooks. |
Which sportsbooks and betting sites are legal in Alberta?
The legal betting sites in Alberta are the ones registered with AGLC and listed by AiGC, plus Play Alberta. There are two places to check what sportsbooks are legal in Alberta:
- AiGC’s registered iGaming sites directory: it links to each site’s real address. AiGC’s own rule is plain: if an operator doesn’t appear in the directory, it isn’t regulated.
- AGLC’s gaming registrant list: filtered for iGaming operators.
Registered sites also display the AiGC logo and the Responsible Gambling Council’s RG Check accreditation.
Offshore sites that aren’t registered aren’t legal to operate in Alberta, and unregistered operators had to stop taking Alberta bets by July 13, 2026. They aren’t bound by AGLC’s rules on identity checks, limits, fair settlement or complaints, so if one refuses to pay, there’s no Alberta regulator you can take the complaint to.
About Play Alberta
Play Alberta is the province’s own gambling site, run by AGLC. It launched in October 2020, added a sportsbook in September 2021 and released its sportsbook app in October 2024. It offers sports betting, casino games, live dealer games and instants, and it’s the only site in Alberta allowed to sell lottery tickets.
Yes, you can win real money on Play Alberta: it’s a real-money site, and you withdraw winnings from your account the same as at any registered sportsbook. It’s still running now that the private market is open, and AiGC says Play Alberta will continue to operate alongside the registered private operators. Its sportsbook offers same-game parlays, player props and in-play betting, and Play Alberta has team partnerships with the Oilers, Flames, Elks and Stampeders.
All registered sportsbooks in Alberta
Nineteen sportsbooks were listed in the AiGC directory on October 19, 2026, out of 51 registered sites in total. Most launched with the market on July 13. Others followed: Sports Interaction on July 23, Bally Bet and Monopoly Casino & Sportsbook in early August, and Betway at the end of September, so the Alberta sports betting launch is still playing out. More sportsbooks are coming to Alberta, too. BET99 joined the directory in October 2026, while Betano and PointsBet are registered with AGLC but aren’t in the directory yet. Play Alberta isn’t in the table, since AGLC runs it directly.

Which sports betting apps are legal in Alberta?
The sports betting apps legal in Alberta are those whose operator is registered with AGLC and listed by AiGC. The app checks that you’re in Alberta before it takes a bet and blocks play if it can’t confirm your location, including when you’re using a VPN. Download apps from the App Store, Google Play or the link on the operator’s Alberta site, and check the operator against the AiGC directory first. Many apps serve both Alberta and Ontario, but your account belongs to one province.
What makes the best sports betting app in Alberta
The best app for sports betting in Alberta is the one that handles your bets cleanly when it matters, which is usually mid-game. Look for:
- A bet slip that builds same-game parlays quickly and shows the price before you confirm
- Cash out that works during play, ideally with partial or automatic options
- Fast, reliable geolocation, so you’re not locked out at puck drop
- Deposit, loss and time limits you can set from inside the app
- Interac withdrawals without a long internal review
How to sign up at an Alberta betting site
Signing up for online sports betting in Alberta works the same way at all registered sports betting sites. Each one has to confirm your name, date of birth and address before your account opens, and many can do it from credit-file records without a photo ID. Some ask for an ID scan or a selfie. Health cards aren’t accepted, and the address has to be a physical one, not a PO box. You’ll need a separate account at each sportsbook you use, and you have to be in Alberta to sign up and bet.
-
Pick a sportsbook from the AiGC directory. Open it from the link there, or download its app.
-
Check the minimum age. Alberta’s is 18, but Bally Bet asks for 19 and Caesars Sportsbook for 21.
-
Enter your details. Use your legal name exactly as it appears on your ID, plus your date of birth, physical address and email.
-

Deposits and withdrawals at Alberta betting sites
Interac e-Transfer is the standard method at Alberta betting sites, and most also take debit and credit cards for deposits, with Apple Pay or PayPal at some. Withdrawals go to an account in your own name, usually the one you deposited from. Crypto isn’t allowed at any registered site.
Fast withdrawal betting sites in Alberta
The fastest withdrawal betting sites in Alberta pay Interac and debit card withdrawals within hours. bet365 is one of the fastest payout sportsbooks, paying both in one to four hours. BetMGM pays Interac and PayPal within 24 hours of approval, and DraftKings pays to debit cards in under 24 hours. Betting sites with same-day withdrawal still review every request first, so even an instant withdrawal or same-day payout sportsbook has to clear that review. The same applies at fast payout casinos.
| Method | Deposit speed | Withdrawal speed | Minimum withdrawal | Fees |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Interac | Instant | 1 to 4 hours (bet365) to 5 business days (FanDuel) | $10 | None charged by the sportsbook |
| PayPal | Instant | Within 24 hours (BetMGM) to 48 hours (FanDuel) after approval | $10 | None charged by the sportsbook |
| Debit Card | Instant | 1 to 4 hours (bet365) to 5 business days (FanDuel) | $10 | None charged by the sportsbook |
| Apple Pay | Instant | Instant (bet365) to 3 business days (BetMGM) | $10 | None charged by the sportsbook |
How online betting sites pay out
Online betting sites pay out in two stages. A winning bet settles to your balance once the result is confirmed. When you request a withdrawal, the sportsbook runs an internal review, from a few hours to five business days depending on the site, then sends the money to your bank or e-wallet. Sportsbook payout speed mostly comes down to that review.
Can a sportsbook refuse to pay out?
Yes, a sportsbook can refuse to pay out, but only on the grounds of its betting rules, such as a bet placed after the result was known, an obvious pricing error or suspected match-fixing. Alberta’s standards require those decisions to be fair and made in good faith.
Sports and bet types you can bet on
Registered Alberta sportsbooks cover the major North American leagues plus dozens of other sports, and the main bet types follow the same rules at every site.
Sports
| Sport | Leagues | Markets |
|---|---|---|
| Hockey | The NHL, the biggest market for Alberta bettors, plus the PWHL at several books | Moneylines, puck lines, totals, player props and futures on every Oilers and Flames game. Alberta bans betting on Canadian minor leagues. |
| Football | The NFL, college football and the CFL, including every Elks and Stampeders game | Point spreads, totals and player props are the main markets. |
| Basketball | The NBA and WNBA, plus college basketball and international leagues | Live betting through every quarter. |
| Baseball | MLB | Moneylines, run lines and totals, plus pitcher and batter props. |
| Soccer | From the Premier League and Champions League to MLS | Usually the most events on the board. |
Bet types
- Moneyline: A bet on who wins. American odds show how much you’d win on a $100 stake (+150) or how much you’d stake to win $100 (-150).
- Puck line and point spread: A handicap on the winning margin. In hockey, the puck line is usually 1.5 goals, so the favourite has to win by two or more.
- Totals: A bet on whether the combined score goes over or under a set number, such as 6.5 goals.
- Parlays: Two or more bets combined into one. Every leg has to win, and the payout grows with each leg you add.
- Same-game parlays: A parlay built from bets on one game, such as a team to win, a player to score and the total. Because the legs are linked, the sportsbook adjusts the price rather than simply multiplying the odds.
- Player props: Bets on an individual player’s numbers, such as shots on goal, points or passing yards.
- Futures: Bets on outcomes settled later in the season, such as the Stanley Cup, the Grey Cup or a player award.
Live betting and cash out in Alberta
Live betting in Alberta follows one set of rules at every registered sportsbook: markets stay open after the game starts, and prices move with every goal, penalty and timeout. If the price changes while your bet is on the slip, Alberta’s standards require the site to let you accept the new price or withdraw the bet.
Cash out lets you settle a bet before it’s finished, for more or less than the full payout depending on how it’s going. There are three versions:
| Type | How it works | Offered by |
|---|---|---|
| Full cash out | Settles the whole bet at the offered price. | Most sportsbooks on this list |
| Partial cash out | Takes part of the value and leaves the rest of the bet running. | DAZN Bet |
| Auto cash out | Settles the bet once its value reaches a figure you set. | BetMGM |
Some sites also advertise an early payout rule, which settles a bet as a win once your team builds a set lead. It’s a promotion, so the terms vary by site and by sport.
Sportsbooks with live streaming
Sportsbook live streaming lets you watch the game you’re betting on without leaving the app. Among the best sportsbooks with live streaming in Alberta, DAZN Bet lets you watch without an account, with the stream next to your slip.
| Sportsbook | What it streams |
|---|---|
| DAZN Bet | Streams you can watch without an account, next to your bet slip |
| BetRivers | The full pro football season in Alberta, plus soccer, tennis and golf |
| Caesars Sportsbook | Select events in the app |
| bet365 | Select events in the app |
Coverage depends on broadcast rights, so check what a live-streaming sportsbook carries before you deposit for it.
Responsible gambling in Alberta
Every registered Alberta sportsbook has to offer the same core set of tools under AGLC’s standards:
Some sportsbooks go further. Caesars and Bally Bet let you cap the size of a single bet, and bet365 lets you schedule recurring time-outs, such as weekdays during working hours.
Each sportsbook sets limits separately. If you bet at more than one, set matching limits at each, and check your account history regularly to see what you’ve spent across all of them.
Self-exclusion in Alberta is run by AGLC and covers every registered site at once. You can exclude yourself for six months, one year, two years or three years, from online gambling, land-based venues or both. If you self-exclude before a game starts, the sportsbook has to refund any bet you’ve placed on it.
Sports betting carries its own warning signs: chasing a loss with another live bet, raising stakes to make a game feel more interesting, or adding legs to a parlay for a bigger payout.
